Release Thread for the week of 11/1/24

Week of 11/1/24 - 5 Releases - 24 Commits

Operational Notes:

SOL support is finally here (0xdef1cafe’s requirements were even observed: CHART: It's been 262 days since Solana's last major outage)

While only for Phantom users at initial launch, Product is keeping eyes on its usage and user feedback before we do any more work to provide support for wallet parity.

Limit orders work is the next on deck feature that is still behind a flag but developing quickly and could be in a release in the next week or two.

A major Swapper update was required as a prerequisite for limit orders and a few high risk releases went out this week with no hot fixes required (one balance fetch regression was addressed in the regular release cadence.

Leadership, Marketing and Engineering were able to work together quickly to get a campaign for THOR holders to have free trades on ShapeShift for the rest of the calendar year, providing a great deal and opportunity for some web3 community members to salvage something from the governance debacles currently unraveling at Thorswap.

General & Strategy

We’ve gotten through a really busy week, on the one hand having everyone allocated is good. On the other hand it’s important to have focus. As noted by ops, we got the first welcome wagon our for Thorswap community users who come to the FOX fam.

Stepping into a community mid-drama is both unwise and not our strong suit. It’s also a bad experience for their community members who are confused and trying to work through a murky situation. Currently, waiting to see what shakes out. While mulling over a couple other ways to welcome Thorswap users who choose migrating. Including in some spikes/redesigns for advanced wallet options like keystores, derivation paths, etc.

Process

Still working through specs on those workshop ideas but the rough sequence we set Monday is:

  • Everything in progress like limit orders, Solana, & it’s swapper.
  • Memoless
  • rFOX for LPs (hopefully hit December epoch, likely by January to start the new year clean)
  • Cleanup from whatever we break along the way and continue ironing out smol improvements.

From there the priority ideas are roughly:

  • The sweeper
  • Bridging aggregation
  • a SAFE app

This above list is subject to much scrutiny, partnership conversations, and change.

Spec updates:

  • Spec Ratio is at: 38/10 (3.8)
