Release Thread for the Week of 12/13/24

Week of 12/13/24 - 4 Release - 18 Commits - 2 ephemeral environment test

Operational Notes:

Operations has had our hands full with E2E testing for the Chainflip feature that went live this week. It is a new path in swapper that allows swaps between SOL and ETH/BTC. Jupiter (a dex for SOL tokens) is a fast follow feature as we continue to release SOL+ support.

The release pipeline got clogged a bit last week and this week with all of the major features that have shipped, Ops is doing it’s best to keep develop/release tidy and Prod bug free. Please report any issues you may see via the usual means as our team has gotten expediant with responding to issues in production that have arisen.

Ops is working closely with the Moderation Workstream to clean up the Discord, it may look quite a bit different after the holidays. Many of our contributors will be out toward the end of the month observing the holidays. Releases may slow down in accordance.

SOL support for Ledger and native should be coming in quickly as well to round out SOL+ support.

Operations renewal is just around the corner and should be up in the forums in the coming week or so.

General & Strategy

We’re exposing ourselves anon. JK, but the rates got freed. Now it’s on the MKBD team calendar. retention and swaps here we come (?)

New swapper flow in the works.

Limit orders getting it’s final pieces wired in, just in time for cowswap to launch on Base. Once Thorchain gets base up and running that means we’re the only place you get limit orders and you get the rails from other native assets. Parallel diversification continues on a path towards success.

Chainflip is live  David already told the world. Jupiter is going to reduce so much friction there, because swapping SOL for USDC on Solana sucks at the moment. But swapping ETH into USDC on Solana is fine. Oy vey routes, who hurt you?

Also, a very large product thanks to @hpayne_shapeshiftdem , he’s been hitting the streets corralling users into cogent feedback and experience stuff. Helping product hit it’s goals like all good cross workstream leads.

Process

The new swapper flow brought up a larger architecture discussion, engineering has brought one person across the stack to own the future decisions. This means shipping more timely, accurately, scalably, and safely. This might slow down our execution on the app, but that’s fine since we’re building new things next year instead of continually adding a maintenance burden on the platform. Glad to jump into excalidraws again and make the best decisions we can with ample foresight.

Sincerest apologies for continually shipping new things right after we finish another thing.

We got our wallet UX mocked, spiked, and on the board. We’ll have a chat with Gomes on the derivation paths and advanced address management getting that on deck afterwards.
