Week of 2/14/25 - 12 Releases - 43 Commits - 2 ephemeral environment tests

Operational Notes:

New Features that went out this week:

FWIF - FOX with hat.

New mobile wallet new wallet flow - A new flow for users creating a new wallet through the ShapeShift mobile app. Much needed improvements to the entire flow UIX anUI wise.

Default buy asset is now BTC.

Max fees updated to 69 bps

General & Strategy

You can follow along with the user stories, research and next steps here.

Come on Tuesday 1 pm PST (21:00 UTC 8:00 Am Sydney) as we meet about the AI agentic future at Shapeshift. A POC (proof-of-concept) is where we start. The current thinking is start smol and iterate: bring your own wallet and interact with the agent.

Our agenda should be really fun:

  • Knowing that it’s BYOW, what are Tx’s you hate having to do now with your current wallet?
  • what are things you wish were automated?
  • what are things in our UI you wish you could do or can’t do and want?
  • Free for all
    • Give everyone a chance to flow chart and AI agent. If you could have an agent automate anything onchain what would that be?

This is the taking focus for the next month and the outcome will be an aligned roadmap, a backup set, and cohesion for parallelizing the next stages for the app and our AI agent POC. Very exciting times ahead for Shapeshift DAO!

OG is in testing, and OMG it’s glorious. So much less hassle getting what you want, where you want. Hopefully chainflip is on board with this and we boost everyone’s memory, convert new platform users, and get a boat load of feedback. Nostalgia, onchain. Pass it around.

Process & Research

Got a new theme that sounds better than polish and refine: “make people feel good about the app.”

We should feel good when things like positive slippage happens, we shouldn’t data dump on users, we need to make execution clearer. And ultimatley paying fees makes people feel bad, so we should revert that and say “you got this much more PEPE b/c you held FOX, congrats, you’re welcome ILY. “ or “you could havesgotten so many more sats if you just were multichain sillypants.“ Less savings, more assets. Sometimes a perspective change is all you need.

Spec updates:

  • Spec Ratio is at: 6/27 (4.5)
    • These will be reviewd on Monday or moved into a single document while we refine what we’re focusing on that needs full specs.

  • Twitter space ⇒ x.com S/O El Toro for being such a chad and bringing the energy to that call.
  • Marketing has 20m FWH tokens left to give to users to help onboard them and their friends. If you or a loved one would like some tokens to give to your degenerate friends, send a message in Marketing-public, and we can get you sorted with some tokens.
    • Announcement on FWH grant program coming Monday

Some initial nice signs of life here as in the last couple days, we have had 39 (tracked) session starts, and of those session starts, 31 receiving a quote (Which means at least they are interested in what we are offering). Stoked to see how this rolls out.

Here are the creatives we are running:

Here is our mocked funnel for what we are expecting based on our historical conversion rates (to the right of connect wallet is our in-app funnel; left of that is all ads metrics). We have a $1 CPM deal with them (that means we pay $1 for every 1,000 people that view our advertisement). I would love to either disprove the data here or validate it with this experiment so we can use this information to continue refining marketing funnels and activations.

ETH Denver

Hoff is going to ETH Denver to represent ShapeShift. If you are in Denver and want to say hi or join him in his escapades to spread the ShapeShift gospel, feel free to reach out to me in the discord and we can chat more. We will not be doing a booth this year there.

Ideally I would love this to be a repeatable and scalable process. If you look at the CPT projection above and compare it to the projection here, Presearch has a higher CPT than conferences BUT a much lower CPM (makes sense bc only so many people can see one man). Its all part of the experiment bby.

TheSmith is bringing us to the final legs of our audience breakdown sprint where we looked at a metric boat load of data from self declared competitors as well as data-assigned competitors from some of our research.

UTM Link Management

With the migration of the website and giving it a new facelift, we are taking some time to cull bad UTM’s, organize the ones that we care about and track them more holistically.
